2016 - The Year In Which I Make (And Complete) New Years Resolutions

Do you ever make New Years Resolutions and never do them?  I sure do.  But this year, I am going to try my very hardest to actually do them.  Ready?

-Finish The Clockshifter.
-Finish the first draft of To Be Awake.
-Query agents and publishers.
-Attend Realm Makers.

-Create a blogging schedule (and follow it).
-Make my blog more interesting for readers.
-Find the right writing style for my blog.
-Make it as professional as possible.
-Have at least one person guest post.  (Anyone want to volunteer?)

-Read 100 books.
-Have at least one book signed.

-Exercise more.
-Read the Bible every day.
-Visit Katie again.

Survey Results

On December 31, I posted a survey asking about various things about my blog.  Based on the results, here are some changes that will be happening on Elvish Pens, Fantastical Writings.

- More book reviews.  This one surprised me.  Book reviews are posts I generally skip over and search for later when I am ready to read a book.  I was going to stop posting them here, but I guess I will keep writing them!

- Author interviews.  I will try my very hardest to find some authors to interview!

- I've made a blogging schedule.  I will be posting my main posts on Monday.  If there are any announcements, they may be posted on any other day of the week.  :)

- I have redesigned the blog.  You probably noticed that already.  :)  A few of you pointed out that it was hard to read.  I had been wanting to fix that for a long time, but it all wasn't coming together.  I couldn't get everything to work together to create one "flawless" design.  Therefore, I redesigned it all, keeping the essence of the old design, while making it easy to read.

- The posts you suggested.  :) I will keep these a surprise for now.

  1. I like the way the blog looks now! I also need to stick to a blogging schedule. I get lazy. A lot. :)

    1. Thank you so much, Claire! I used to be that way too with a blogging schedule. I would write one when I felt like it.

  2. I love your new blog design! I am looking forward to the posts this year. Good luck on your resolutions... that is quite a few.

  3. Good ideas on your resolutions! I hope you are able to get farther along with "The Clockshifter" because it's amazing!! Thank you SO much for letting me be a Beta reader!!
What is Realm Makers? I don't think I have heard of it. =)
And one of my resolutions is that I want to meet you!! Please come up North!! =D

    1. Aww...you are so sweet, Hosanna. :)
Realm Makers is a writer's conference for writers of Christian speculative fiction. Here is the website if you are interested at looking into it more. http://realmmakers.com/
That would be an awesome thing to do this year!

  4. Ooo, you're going to be querying agents this year? Wow, that is so cool! I'm excited to see how this goes for you :). Attending Realm Makers is something I want to do as well, but I don't think that would work out :(. Do you know where the conference is taking place at this year?
I would possibly offer to guest post, but since I don't have a public blog, that makes no sense XD. I am excited to see who you do have guest post, though!
Signed books are awesome. *nods* And visiting Katie is a very good New Years Resolution :D.
I'm excited to see all the stuff that you'll be doing on your blog this year!

    1. Hopefully I will finish editing and start querying sometime this year. :) Realm Makers is in Philadelphia, PA this year. Here is the website for more information: http://realmmakers.com/.
I will probably put up a guest post sign up sometime in the future and hopefully people will sign up!
      Thank you, Savannah!

  5. Best of luck with your resolutions! Also, I love your picture for this post. It is very perfect <3
